Is 5ghz worth it? - Page 5

5GHz? Who stops at 5Ghz!? Go for 5.4GHz! As long as you keep temps under 80 degrees you are golden! Most chips can do at least 5.3GHz anyways. This is OCN after all. And no, air cooling won't get you to 5.4GHz

So can you do 3-way SLI 590s on Linux? 590s only have one SLI bridge, so how does that work?

I don't know, but I've been lurking this thread all day waiting for him to post some pictures of his rig or some GPU-Z validations. Maybe I shouldn't hold my breath...

Most chips CAN do 5.3GHz with 1.5v to the core. Its the 5.5GHz and up speed that is very exclusive to "golden" chips. Its just that most people are too scared to boost the voltage above 1.4v or they are using inferior air cooling (212+) or not watercooling.

You can't Tri-SLI 590's.

Only 580's.

Of the 5 sandy bridge chips I've had, one does 5800Mhz +, 1 did 5500, 1 did 5400 , 1 did 5100, 1 could boot 5000 with 1.58V but barely stable enough to make it to windows.
Overclocking ability is all over the place, but they won't necessarily all do 5ghz.

Ok guys I will admit that out of boredom i faked the signature to get some cheap thrills of you thinking how awesome my system is. I hope you guys forgive me since I came to this forum to also help others and not just bragg about myself. I kind of feel ashamed but sorry to all of you hoping to see the world's first tri-sli GTX 590
P.S. Now I'll change the signature to my real system
