OP 5.0ghz is probably overkill and as stated before you probably won't notice a difference from 4.5ghz to 5.0ghz in most games. That being said just push it to 5.0ghz I run mine at 5.0ghz @ 1.45v 24/7 and have been doing so since I put this rig together. I've posted at 5.2ghz and 1.48v and could probably get 5.4ghz with more voltage but the temps while testing were to high for my liking. If anything else just do it to see if your chip actually can and change it back. You wouldn't be on OCN if you weren't at least a little curious

that's what ive done, id like 5.0ghz but ive managed 4.9ghz with good temps and respectable voltage so im happy to leave it there. if a game these days isnt happy with a 4.9ghz quad core then im not interested in playing it lol

P.S. Now I'll change the signature to my real system

Dude, take a chill pill. Ever heard the story about the boy who cried wolf? Yeah, a number of people fake their rigs. It is good that you 'fixed' yours though. But to be honest, it will be hard for anyone who followed this thread to take your 4.8Ghz OC seriously without validation etc. If you care about that, you are more than welcome to post a CPU-Z validation.

Don't worry too much though. No one's mad at you ( i think). We just prefer it if we all kept things honest . ... and we all screw up randomly anyway lol. What is important is that you learned and fixed it.

Back on topic:

Meh, I'd say stick with the 4.5Ghz OC. As a general rule, I try to keep temps as low as possible for the performance. Considering the voltage bump required to hit 5.0Ghz, I'd say don't do it .

.... the OC addict in me says I should tell you to totally do it for the benches!!

Tried everything to get it to 5ghz under 1.5v but could never get it stable. May seem like a stupid question but can an OC be unstable due to too much voltage?

Sorry tri-sli.

Just an excuse too share funny pictures.

Hey, at least you didnt claim that you ment too write quad-sli instead of tri-sli, because 2x gtx 590s is considered quad sli, then proceed too find a picture of someone elses system on a foreign website.

Sad thing is now people could think your even lying about owning a gtx 570 and i5 as well. You should post pics of your i5 and gtx 570 system just so that doesnt happen

You shouldnt feel the need too lie about your system when you already have an i5 and gtx 570, thats what I run (well in sli) and im proud of my system... sure there are others out there that have more powerful systems, but they just have too much disposable income. If I had enough money too buy a gtx 590 sli with a 990x, I would just buy something like this, and you would probably never see me on this website again lol.
