Hard drive raid 0 no proforming?

Hi I'm having a bit of trouble trying to get the performance from my raid set up.

Here is my spec

Case: Cooler Master Enforcer Mid Tower Gaming Case
Motherboard : Z68X-UD7-B3
Processor: 2600k (OC to 4.2)
Memory : 16 GB G.Skill DDR3 PC3-17000 2133MHz RipjawsX
Graphics Card : Gigabyte GeForce GTX 560Ti SUPER OC 1024MB
Optical Drive: LG BH10LS30 10x BD-RE with DVD±RW & LightScribe
Hardrive: Marvell Raid 0 : 2 x OCZ Vertex 3 Series solid state drive - 120 GB - SATA-600
Intel Riad 0 : 3 x Corsair F60GB2 (from old rig)
Cooling CPU: ANTEC KUHLER H2O 920 LIQUID COOLING SYSTEM
Arctic Cooling MX-4 Thermal Paste
PSU: GIGABYTE GE-S800A-D1 ODIN GT 800W Modular SLI

The raid which I'm having trouble is the Marvell set up. The drives are stated to have a max read/write of 500MB but I'm only getting half that on the raid.

I believe it might have something to do with that disk management as it stating that the raid set up is a simple and not primary and its not active!!

Please see HD tune pic with the benchmark set to 512KB and the disk management set up.

Regards

Daniel

Use the 6 Gbps ports provided by the Z68 and get your drives off of the Marvell chipset.

Might have found the problem with the speed. It might be the fact i might have the drive set to IDE and not AHCI which i found out here

Will let you know when i get home after work!

When you toggle 'RAID' mode, AHCI is automatically activated.

Also, I do believe you would have to reinstall Windows as once you reassign the drives to the new array on the new controller, you will effectively be starting from scratch (data unrecoverable).

Hi

I was able to get the system to boot quicker last night by changing the sata interface to AHCI (Not Gsata6 one) but still with only 250MB read speed.

I was looking last night in moving the Drives to the Intel side on the Sata6, but when I look in the bios I can't see a configuration tool to allow a raid setup before installation.

I've only done a raid set up with an nivda chipset which you can do thought the bios. Any pointers on how to make a raid up setup?

Regards

Daniel

Right after some looking up I have made my first raid set up on the Intel chipset instead of using disk management for my gaming raid.

I'm very impressed with what i'm getting, I'm getting a better speed then I did with the nvida chipset.

The question is: iv get it for 126k strip should I have this lower for keep it at this for the gamming raid and for the OS raid what strip size should I have for that?

Regards

Daniel

yes the intel chipset will get you much farther. set you stripe size lower, then you can see some faster load times. It will not bench as fast, but if you take out a stopwatch and check game loads, etc, the lower stripe sizes own. 32k is quick.
