I have the above Asus P6X58D-E motherboard that has 6 memory slots 3 black slots and 3 blue slots they are DDR3. In the Asus motherboard manual booklet if you have 6GB (3x 2GB Rams) DDR3 memory like I have each 2GB ram must go into memory slot A1, B1, C1. (Which are all Blue slots.) But my question is what if you don’t put it in this order can the performance of the memory decrease? Or you don’t get ddr3 instead ddr2? I no this sounds like a stupid question but if it doesn’t matter why do they say to do it like this in the booklet?
The reason for all this is I just installed a new cpu i7 990x and my PC has got problems it starts twice and 2 to 3 seconds later shuts down and only on the 3rd try it doesn’t shut down. Why I say it’s the memory is because I only see 4GB in bio’s and in Windows even though 6GB is installed. So I changed the memory order to (A1, C2, C1) and guess what? The PC starts up fine without shutting off also I can see 6GB of memory know in bio’s and Windows. Is there a chance of the memory slots channels being changed if there is such a thing that is.
