HD 6950 or GTX 570 for 1920x1080? - Page 4

Thread Starter
At 1920x1200, the GTX 570 appears to be significantly faster than the HD 6950 according to most benchmarks, but it depends heavily on the game.

For example, in Splinter Cell: Conviction, the HD 6950 and GTX 570 perform almost exactly the same.

But in Bad Company 2, the HD 6950 is 6-7 frames per second slower than the GTX 570. Considering the GTX 570 turns into a better deal as resolution decreases, it looks like that's a better GPU for me.

Admittedly I'm at work and only glanced through that article. That being said, nowhere in the aforementioned article could I find proof of timings being changed or memory speed being altered. I doubt I missed it as that's article references the TPU article which I have read many times as it's source.

So again, miniboy, proof? I doubt it. Please, please, please provide some proof about timing changes or speed increases with a 6970 BIOS. I doubt you have any.
So admittedly you're blind and can't look at a before and after picture of GPU-Z. I think if this is your level if incompetence we can ignore your "contributions."

Again, you're trying to say altering the core configuration for better performance is unlocking while altering the memory configuration for better performance is not unlocking. You can't change the memory timings and voltages with just overclocking. Sorry to break it to you chief.

Then again I shouldn't expect anything less from someone who admits they are either blind or incompetent.

gtx 570..
Nvidia is alot better than AMD.. with drivers, gaming quality, everything..
turning on vsync in amd catalyst profile is useless doesn't change anything.. it is buged and will never be fixed..

go with nvidia, don't buy amd is waste of money..
i'm sure you don't want BSOD, or what else amd had?
screen tearing, ghosting, lags,
and what is happening in crysis ? Screen flickering.. ETC ETC

people who use AMD catalyst. 11.8 you'll notice something really nice in Battle field bad company..
and what else is gonna happen when Battle field 3 comes ?

once again go with NVIDIA!!!
i regret alot now.

Of course, this isn't a great sample size (Not that it's easy collect such data). But, it does prove that you don't need to have a reference card to unlock.
Also, MSI obviously has enough confidence in their cards to push out an official guide.

I play on a 32' tv at 1900x1080 with a zotac 570 gtx and I'm able to max out almost every game out without even overclocking my cpu or graphics card, you'll be fine.

I don't think I would touch voltages anyway, but I have read about the VRM issue. I just ^ the clock speeds in Afterburner. I don't push my video cards very hard.

Lol people say it was a bad batch thing when I last visited that thread.

Also you've got the DCII and Lighning 570s that have 6+2 phase circuitry. Or you guys could get a lightning 480 for $320, 16 phases, OCs past 580 levels, 1.5 gb VRAM.
