Not the greatest, but at least there is an option here.
The alternative is to sell the chip at a 30% loss just to buy the $120 chip which will end up costing you $50 anyways right?
Not to mention that if you are looking at this lower end hardware and unlock services you probably don't have the skill or ability to change the CPU yourself. So without the option of these code based upgrades you would be looking at purchasing a new CPU, reselling the old one, and paying a service like GeekSquad anywhere from $50-$100 to do the upgrade (and thats assuming the model notebook you have even has an upgradable CPU and doesnt have the CPU soldered into the motherboard).
Considering everything this is a good alternative for some people.
