Logitech G500 or Razer Deathadder Black Edition

Hey guys,

I need some quick advice if possible. There is a 1 day sale next to my house on these two mice. I have actually been reading about both of them for about two weeks now, and have not pulled the trigger because I just can no decide which one to get.

To remove all variables, if they both were the same price, which one would be the better choice here? I read so many people loving the DA 3.5g (black), and others hating it. I have not read too many posts of people hating on the G500.

My grip is something crossed between mainly claw, with a little palm. My main game will be BF3 (soon as the beta arrives). If it matters, my mouse pad is a hard (still flexes some) surface - Surface 1030 Func.

Please give me a recommendation of the choice where I can not go wrong. Thank you !

Forgot to mention... they both are in their packaging so I can not place my hand on them unfortunately. I know the logical answer would be to get the one that felt better... I have used both forms in the past and would be ok with either of them.

Thanks. Also, the G400 is on sale as well... pretty much all mice are. If I was only needing the original 5 buttons (like the DA has), would the G400 be just fine, or should I go up to the G500? Is the sensor any better?

G500 is feels higher quality (durable) and has on-the-fly DPI adjusting, but it's also extremely heavy (even before the extra weights) and immobile. DA is lighter and more mobile, which is good for FPS games, and it has sweat-resistant coating. I've tried both of them, and I prefer the DA because I pick my mouse up a lot and the G500 is just too heavy. DA has plastic sides, though, so it can be difficult to pick up as well if you're sweaty. I settled on the Mamba because it's the same heavenly shape as DA, but it has rubber-padded sides, rather than slick plastic.

Oh, and DA is definitely better for claw grip.

Thanks Dradus. Doesn't the black edition of the DA have rubber sides, or are they still plastic?

Hmm, I guess I didn't actually own the Black Edition. However, looking at its gallery on the Razer website, it doesn't look like it has rubber sides.

I have both the G500 and DA:BE. I went from the G500 to the DA and all I can say is I wish I would have done it sooner. The DA is slightly larger in length and the buttons dont take as much force to click (not that the G500 takes alot). It feels like the DA tracks better than the G500 though it has a higher LOD. I fixed that with some scotch tape until it gets fixed in the firmware. Also the thumb buttons are better (IMO) since there are 2 easily accessible side buttons on the DA and the G500 has 3 but since they are so close and small they just dont feel as natural to use. The DA:BE has the rubber on the sides and smooth top, while the G500 has textured plastic on the sides and a smooth top. I cant say there is anything I miss about my G500, I had it for a year now and while it was a good mouse I wont ever go back to it.

OK, so I guess I was wrong about the plastic sides, given what nagle says. I wasn't even aware there was a new version of the DA tbh.
