1090T Question

Thread Starter
Hello, I've just finished overclocking my AMD 1090T and got it to 4.0 Ghz. During the time I had Prime95 running, I also had CoreTemp running. After Prime95 showed my overclock was stable, I reviewed the temperatures. CoreTemp listed my low at 30C, and my high at 64C. I'm currently using the Cooler Master Hyper 212 as my Heatsink.

My question is, should I consider backing down my overclock to help reduce the high temperature I received while running Prime95? OR, is everything fine and I should leave the settings the way they are?

I have a 1090T and AMD say the max temp is 63 degrees, you have to bear in mind that prime95 stresses your system much more than anything normally would so for eveyday use you should be fine. My advice would be to run your system normally for a few days and monitor temps, if it stays below the 55 mark under heavy load you'll be fine, if it goes higher, maybe back it down a bit or buy a better cooler/get better airflow.
Before i got my H50 i was using a similar cooler to yours and even after a few hours of gtaiv the temp never went above 50-52.
Trial and error my friend, that's what you need, just monitor temps closely over the next few days and you should be fine. I've had my 1090T at 4.3 for the past 5 months and its been working perfectly.
Hope that helps buddy

I think it is too hot. That cooler should handle it. 62C is max temp. What TIM are you using? And maybe you have too much/too little and need to reapply.

What voltage are you at to get to the 4.0?

You have it set at 1.45 via the BIOS? What is the voltage reported by CPU-Z. I don't know anything about the TIM that comes with the +212 cooler, but maybe reapply again, and if that doesn't help, maybe some AS5 TIM?

Yes, the voltage is set via the BIOS. CPU-Z says my voltage is at 1.440, but spiked when Prime95 was running to 1.524, I believe.

Do you have LLC enabled or disabled?

I have mine disabled. Keeping mine at 1.5 at idle but it drops to 1.46 under load which helps keep my temps low. But in my bios it is set at like 1.55 or 1.56.

Well, so far I've been testing it out using a media converter with multiple videos at one time, so far, the highest it has gone is 52C. When idle, it is hanging around 26C.
