1st Custom Build-Chimera

Thread Starter
Hey all,
So this is my first custom built rig that I'm wanting to build and I want to keep it reasonably priced, somewhere between $1000-1200 as a ballpark estimate. I've been doing months of research on every prospective piece of hardware for my rig. I'm calling it Chimera because it used to contain a couple of parts from a few friends' computers, but I threw most of the stuff out. Anyways, here goes the parts listing:

Any feedback on what to cut or add would be great! I'm thinking about downgrading the PSU to a 700W or so, just a little addendum to the list.

Looks like a really solid rig man!

Congrats on the first build as well!

Have you ever considered a Sandy Bridge setup?

Also keep in mind that BullDoser and Sandy-Bridge E, AND Ivy Bridge are right around the corner as for CPUs.

Keplar is said to be coming soon and or Q1 or 2011. GPUs.

With that said, if that's your build, looks solid. Buy it, build it, don't look back!

Get a Samsung Spinpoint F3 instead. More space and equal speeds for cheaper.

Would the MoBo I listed support Bulldozer when it comes out? I'm getting mixed reports in the feedback as to whether this motherboard would support it.
No, it won't. It's not an AM3+ socket. You might want to consider returning that board and getting an AM3+ one.

Okay, that's what I thought. Thank you! Got any suggestions, out of curiosity?

Yeah replace the H60. I'm using one with my 1090T and in the BIOS it boots at 40C but if it's just left to sit there it climbs into the 50's while idling... When it hits around 54C I usually leave the BIOS and hope what it's reporting isn't true. That's also with two Yate Loon 120mm's on push-pull.

I think an NH-D14 would do much better
