Would this MoBo work? Has anybody heard any good or bad things about this motherboard? And @Treeman, yeah i plan on doing that. thanks!
That's an AM3 board as well.

I'm an Intel kind of guy, so I don't know much about AMD. Check these guys out. I have an ASUS board, and love the UEFI. This one is in the $150 ballpark.

Gigabyte boards are supposed to be good.

My friend got that board and he says that it has "AM3+ Supported" printed in small print right under the north bridge.

If I recall, the m489gtd does support AM3+ with a bios update

ASUS download page
Check beta bios 3017

i read on some other thread it may not work without physically modding the socket or something to that effect
post #18 of 37
are you dead set on AMD ? cuz if you do a SB rig you can get more power for same money or are you wanting to upgrade to BD?

well i'd rather not get a board if i had to mod it to get to am3+ and they dont sell the m489gtd anymore. im dead set on AMD and i want to leave the window open for upgrading to bulldozer if i can without spending on a new mobo.
