From the start, it's been damaged, it's been tried to RMA. ASUS support lied to me and when I was about to send it they said it's out of warranty even though a day ago they said they'd repair it. But there is lots more wrong with the baord than the crazy SB temps
Get rid of the board. Buy a new one. Don't bench it on a bag.

/thread

You admit the SB and more are damaged on it. There's no reason to waste any time on it.

Dude. Are you kidding me? Stop posting if you're gonna talk to me like an idiot. If I could buy a new one I would and I am soon. I'm not wasting time if it works, some people have to deal with what they got you know.

I'm trying to figure out if it's true because then I won't have to send my harddrives to get fixed and won't lose data.

Its your own fault it's not working and don't tell people to not talk to you like an idiot when you obviously are one if you set your motherboard on an anti- static bag.

Everything you have been told in this thread is correct, and you have lashed out at every single one of us because our solutions don't jive with your current situation.

You said yourself it was broken. Broken means "not working". Trying to make something that is "not working" work, is a waste of your time. The fact that it is "all you've got" will not make it begin working. Even if it is "sort of working", i wouldn't connect a damn thing to it and risk damaging other parts.

Use another computer, a friend's, a relative's, whatever, to test the drives. This will save you lots of trouble shooting time in the future when you can get a new mobo.

Also, don't put it on an anti-static bag

Yeah I learned to not put it on an antistatic o.O but yeah whenever I ask about a solution or anything, I often get "Get a new part". Since this is an enthusiast forums, people just dump money into computers. "Get a new part" isn't an option. If that was, it would have been done before. Not everyone knows how antistatic bags work, I learned now.

The damage hasn't been done by me, it's a bad unit or screwy unit to begin with, the antistatic bag CAUSE NO ADDITIONAL ISSUES.

THIS IS WHAT I'M TRYING TO GET ANSWERED. I've had one person said he'd think so, if a screwy South Bridge can cause the computer or windows to think a HDD is bad and make the HDDs behave bad?

I see the OP has been updated. Since Asus will replace the motherboard I assume that the issue will be sorted out. Let us know if the replacement board's south bridge still has temp issues...

RMA it or Bake it.

You might think I am kidding, but I am not.

I have successfully brought back laptops and video cards with ovens.

100% SB controls SATA and IDE Do not trust that your devices are bad if testing them on an unstable motherboard specially with a crazy hot SouthBridge.

I love you wanna get together later? LOL.

This board is still very very usable. I'm not sure why the SB gets so hot but I"m pretty sure it's what has been causing my HDD issues. I've had it around 30c lately and haven't had any issues at all. I just think it's a bad unit to begin with. ASUS will NOT replace it because they diecided not to. And Bake? I know a guy who built computer does "Hot Bed" testing, I don't know if this is what you're talking about?

I am upgrading soon but the mobo still works and is easily usable, I'm wondering if I need my HDDs replaced which I don't, because my backup drive is a IDE and the new mobo doesn't have that D: haha.

I'm gonna sell it with all this information included. Seems if you would have spot cooling on the SB it'd be fine.

I'll look up some information on this. I'm not gonna just throw it in the oven XD Otherwise, since it's not very broken I don't think I'm going to try anything else. Not sure. Besides upgrade soon. Sale on 8gb ripjaws for 40
