I want to upgrade but to what?

Thread Starter
I can't believe there is no bench marks I can find comparing;
2xGTX260 216cores vs GTX560ti
and vs GTX 570.

I really wanna know the difference. I know about DX11 and all the mumbo jumbo but for 1920x1080 gamer I just want to know the straight up muscle between the cards. Should I move up. Stupid Kepler push back to 2012 *sigh*.

SLI 260's is a bit better than a 5870, so lets say a 6950? Its going to be better than a GTX 560ti and slower than a single GTX 570.

They don't have DX11, but do scale decently in many games and are still a respectable combination, though they do tend to be a bit power hungry as most of the 2XX were.

There isn't going to be any direct comparison as there really isn't a point in comparing every single GPU single / SLI (Crossfire) / TRI-SLI (Trifire) etc. against each other. CF 4870's were about equal to a 5870, 260 216 core SLI was a bit faster than CF 4870's.

They are just too far away ( in the time/gen )

Compare yourself.

A GTX260 is ~30% slower than a HD5870.
A GTX5870 is nearly equal to a GTX560 TI

Considering that a SLI of GTX260 dont scale 100% in SLI, you end up a little beind. Compared to a single GTX570 a SLI GTX260 is probably equal.

Here is a 260c216 vs a HD5770 which got similar benchmarks:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/170?vs=172

You can then compare the 5770 to the 560ti and 570 and approximate the differences between the 260 c216:

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/296?vs=306

Hey Love9Sick! You probably don't know who I am but I remember you from the Evo forums. My username is TheBlueBlur. I saw your white X at a car meet a few years back. I think you were one of the first people to get one. I had a blue Evo 9 and M3 at the point. Ended up selling them for an X..

As for your question, I went from a single GTX 260 Core 216 to a GTX 570 and the difference was massive. It should easily be more powerful than SLI 260s, while also providing all the neat DX11 features. You can PM me if you want to drop by my place and see the performance of my sig rig in person.

Not sure where people get that a GTX 260 is anywhere close to the speed of a 5870. Perhaps when those benches were released it was moderately close. Drivers have made the 5870 a monster. A GTX 260 is close to a 4870, usually a hair faster. 4870 crossfire is almost on par with a 5870. So by that logic GTX 260 SLI would be close to a 5870, and a 5870 is generally a little faster than a 470. My understanding is a 470 at higher resolution is a bit faster than GTX 560TI?

The only logical upgrade would be going to a GTX 570 or GTX 480, but the 480 would run hotter and probably be louder.

Amazing how people still use anandtech for comparisons even though they haven't updated those numbers in ages.

The 470 with the latest drivers is faster than HD5870.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/crysis...e-benchmarks/9

http://www.techspot.com/review/405-t...nce/page5.html

Anyway, GTX 260 is still a decent card but DX11 + at least 40% increase in performance should be a good enough reason to buy a 560TI.
