After getting my first 30" this weekend, my choice is obvious. You also have more options as far as running older games and even newer ones on a single big screen vs multiple ones.

The awesomeness and sheer "OMG" when you first pull out you 30" from the box is just near indescribable

Hi,

As you can see I am running 3xU2311, and I hope my experience will be useful for you. Before trying my current monitors I tried a single U2711 for about ten days.

U2711 had a magnificent picture quality. I am not particularly sensitive to input lag or ghosting, so I didn't notice any.

One problem I had with it (I simply needed more time to get used to it) is the pixel pitch in combination with its size. I prefer to have as much of the screen in focus as possible during gaming so I don't have to "look around" to change my focus to see different parts of the UI in games.

So my only option was to increase the distance I sit from the monitor. However, at a larger distance, reading a lot of text became an issue, since its so tiny. But as I said, it's probably something one can get used to.

Then I tried 3xU2311.

I didn't really find eyefinity to be as amazing as I thought it would be. I mean, yes, it increases immersion, and you see more, but in the end the side monitors are for peripheral vision only, and I'm not sure that's worth it, considering loss of performance you get at these resolutions.

That being said, I was absolutely fascinated with the amount of flexibility provided by having three screens. I do a lot of MS Office work, having multiple Word/Excel files open, and these monitors were a life saver.

Even in games (playing on one screen) having two additional monitors for other programs or watching a movie is a great thing, and the reason I went with three of these in the end.

My conclusion is that the best way is to buy one high res screen as the main one, with two flanking smaller displays, and I'm planning to do just that, as soon as I get the cash.

I agree with this. I'm getting my ZR30W in about 3 weeks and I'm already looking for 2 22" 1680x1050 portrait monitors to flank it with. 4660x1600 FTW

And that has IPS and VA versions out on the market, so I suggest you make sure you get the IPS version if you plan on getting this monitor in portrait next to the 30"

yeah i guess the 22" could be a little bit wider than a 30" is tall. Perhaps the 20" 4:3 could be a closer fit. Just gotta measure them and see what works I guess

EDIT: De-Zant is right the 20" he listed is less than .25 inches wider than the 30 is tall. So if you rotate the 20 portrait style it would be nearly identical in the vertical dimension. And the vertical resolution would be the same at 1600. Just sucks those monitors are $400

I had 3 x asus vh 24's.. at first I liked them then it became annoying with a lot of games not displaying properly. I since sold them and am waiting for the u3011 to come back on sale, so my vote would diffidently be the 30. I just wish I went that route from the start.

NOTE: 2007WFP and 2007FP are different monitors. The 2007FP is the one that lines up perfectly.

Mouse has tracking troubles on multi-coloured pads, If you has small-medium hands it is palm or claw grip mouse. For large handed people only claw, go and buy ec1 if you want to palm.
