3 x 24 or 1 x 30 or ? - Page 3

Hey Ro9, have you made your decision yet?

I had 3x 30" at one point, and it was awesome. But I understand it's too big for most people (it's like a 55-60" TV, lol), it certainly took me a while to adjust to it. For that reason, I'd caution against getting 3x U2711s until you can get a good idea of how big it would be in person.

For the price, 3x 24 is better than a single 30" IMO. Yes, the U3011 is an amazing monitor, but you get a much higher pixel count with 3x U2412M, a much larger display surface, and generally a more immersive experience. The horizontal bars can get annoying, but until we get really thin bezel monitors, that applies to all multi monitor setups.

Another option as somebody mentioned, is to get a single 30", and 2 more 20" monitors on the side. Personally I think that might be the best thing to do, since you get the nice big viewing area of the 30" in the middle, w/ the added space on both sides. And the bars aren't as noticeable b/c they're off to the side.

So that's what I would recommend first, and triple 24" setup next, followed by a single 30" last. Make sure you have a secondary monitor if you go the single 30" route, as it's just very useful to have a second monitor when you're doing work/browsing and stuff.

This. /thread.

I tried Eyefinity and returned the monitors a week later. Now i'm using a 120hz screen and i'm going to sell it soon. I'm kicking myself for not going straight to the 30'.
