is shaw screwing me over?

Thread Starter
i recently switch from telus (15mbits) which gave me a usual and constant download speed of 1.8MB from filesonic (premium account) to Shaw.

i switched to Shaw with 25mbits and i rarely ever get the 2.7MB constantly. most of the time i get that 2.7MB its for the first 20 sec's of a download, then it slows down to 1MB. is this shaw throttling my download speed?

telus was 10mibts slower then shaw(advertised) but from usage, shaw seems to be slower 90% of the time.

*sometimes when i pause and resume downloads, they go much faster.

Did shaw guarantee any kind of 'turbo'?

Most of the connection boost speeds last for ~10 MB of a file.

It sounds fishy, but you need to try out a download manager which takes use of multiple connections.

Internet Download Manager would be a good start.

Probably. Then again when are they (in they I mean all ISPs) not screwing their customers over?

not exactly, router/modem both built into one. its just 1 device that has coaxial cable coming in and Ethernet to my PC.

first mistake using a dm. I get three times the download speed with firefox native dm cause all these dms do is installing uneeded crap, connecting to sites nothing to do with the downloads and create links overloading the underlying network.
