Ultra Kazes too loud. What do sell or fan controller? - Page 2

i have a lamptron fc3 - http://tinyurl.com/3ecmrxv

i highly recommend lamptron controllers. this one specifically has 30w per channel allowing 2 fans on each channel easily(so you don't have to limit yourself to only 4 fans )

I hear good things about Sunbeam's Rheobus Extreme so that is another choice but I personally have no experience with it so I cannot comment on it's performance.

You have some AP-29's? I'm jelly.

Which model were you interested in?

I just installed the FC5v2 in my system, and think it's a decent controller. Solid, and good looking at the same time.

An inexpensive way to see if getting a fan controller is worth doing is to try your UK on 5v. Scythe includes a Molex adapter with each of their fans. You can relocate the yellow wire to the red position to tap into 5 Volts. If your fan(s) click, then they will click on a fan controller.

What I find ironic is that for the price of your two UK's you still cannot buy a good fan controller (US prices). And for what a good fan controller costs you could buy two highspeed GT's (AP-29's, say), do a PWM mod on them and have fans your motherboard can control.

Personally, I have UK's to test; but I would not use them in my system. All four of mine click when undervolted: one each of UK1K and UK2K, two UK3K's.

If you decide to keep them, do lubricate them before putting them into service. See item 3 in my sig.

I was looking at that controller. Can't decide between a FC6 or the FC5v2. They look to be about the same.

There are two differences.

1) The FC6 is 20 watts per channel (the FC5v2 is 30)
2) The FC6 can display RPM and temperature, but AFAIK, cannot display voltage. The FC5v2 can display how much voltage each fan is getting.

Reason #2 was why I went with the FC5v2. I don't want to wire up a bunch of temperature probes, but I do want to see what voltage I'm supplying my fans. If you have high-power fans or are splitting each fan connector to more than one fan, the FC5v2 is a better choice as well, but the FC6 is great for most.

+REP. I wasn't expecting to get this information from a thread I didn't make. Thanks!

I'll go with the FC5v2. Voltage is more important to me than temps, as my motherboard can handle temps.

One question I do have is if they fixed the issues with the display. In the first version, the LCD "bled" a lot, so it was hard to see what the display was showing.
