Check my budget gaming build

Thread Starter
Hey everyone,

here's my build:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Kjx

I am going to OC my CPU. Haven't decided on if I want to OC the 580 quite yet. I will be playing on a 1080p 23" monitor. Here's what I am trying to accomplish:

1. Future Proof. I want this thing to be able to run games for a good amount of time.

2. I want this PC to run SC2, Diablo 3, and future MMO's (GW2, SW:TOR) on very very high settings. Also starting to look into other popular PC games (was never a serious PC gamer, just WoW, SC2, and WC3).

3. Want to be able to 580 SLI in the future, think my PSU will work?

Thank you guys for your time and input.

TBH. Everything looks good to me.
SLI 580's for a 23" 1080p screen is overkill though.

Everything you mentioned will be EASILY accomplished. I personally would swap out the 580 for a 570 (the difference in performance is minor, but price difference is big), and buy a better case(HAF 922) and a more solid, future proof mobo ( Asus p8z68v pro) and you're set to go. For the purposes you mentioned the PC even with the single 570 will be 5-6 year future proof, and going sli with it will even further improve performance. Believe me, I have a similar setup and my single 570 is more than enough for anything on the market right now, no need for a 580. Unless you really have a lot of money to spend.

CPU can be found for $180 at Microcenter, probably $195 shipped or $190 for instore pickup with tax. Saves a bit of money.

That is a pretty good price on a 580 you are getting, everywhere I look they are $500+

Its so not budget. I have no idea why I wrote that. My apologies. I think you might have convinced me to go with the 570, for some reason, in my head, i am going to lose a bunch of performance if I don't go with the 580. Will the PSU SLI 570's alright?

Even one 580 is a bit much for a single 1080p monitor.

a 570 will do you just fine. I promise

Don't worry about that at all. Even a 750W can handle SLI with ease. I wouldn't be suprised if your PSU handled tri-sli easily.
P.S thanks for showing me that site! It's really great.
