$1,500 Gaming Rig

Thread Starter
My budget is around $1,500 for everything - case, monitor, keyboard, mouse, etc. except for speakers. I can stretch it by $100 or $200 if necessary. I'm looking to play BF3 and other new games maxed out at 1920x1080. I won't be overclocking very much, if at all, but I do want a very quiet PC. Thanks

Processor: Intel Core i7-950 - $260
Memory: 6GB Mushkin DDR3 1600 - $60
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth X58 - $200
Graphics Card: eVGA GTX 570 HD - $290
Power Supply: Corsair HX650 650W - $100
Solid State: OCZ Vertex 3 120GB - $200
Case: Antec P183 ATX Mid Tower - $140
CPU Cooler: Zalman CNPS9900 135mm - $70
Monitor: Asus VH222H-P 21.5" - $140
Mouse/Keyboard: Logitech MX 5500 Revolution - $125

Go for an 1155 build. 2500k if you're going to be gaming.

Swap the CPU for a i5 2500k and go with the Sabretooth P67 if you want to keep the TUF series or go for a Z68 board.

Yea I would go with a 2500K instead. For the CPU cooler I would go with the 212+ for cheap or if you want to spend that kind of money I would go with noctua or silver arrow

This. i5-2500k and Asus Sabertooth P67 would be perfect, much much more future proofing, and better overclocking overhead, and I think around the same price is not cheaper.

It's $515 for Core i7 950, Sabertooth X58 and 6GB of Mushkin DDR3-1600. The Core i5 2500k, Sabertooth P67 and 8GB of G. Skill DDR3-1600 costs $490.

So I'm guessing LGA 1155 is the better socket to have? I thought 1366 was Intel's flagship?

Why 8gb of RAM? I think you would be fine with 4gb.

Just realized it costs less. It will be the same performance if not better with the 25K. Plus it will overclock pretty well.

Yes, 1155 is the newest socket. Also you don't really need 8gb of RAM but since you can get a 2x4 set for $50 it just makes more sense to get 8gb while you're at it.

Noticed your only HDD is the SSD. Grab a F4 for storage.
