New to WC and some advice needed...

Hi guys, since there's a lot of wisdom and knowledge on this forum regarding WC, I thought of no better place to start out getting my feet wet

I'm planning my first ever WC build and have been looking at the EK-KIT H3O - Supreme HF 360 Cu as a starter kit.

The stuff that I would like to cool in a Xigmatek Elysium case:

1. i5 2500k
2. Asus gtx 460 1gb sli

There's no full cover waterblock for the gtx's so if I'm stuck with universal blocks and heatsinks. Advice, thoughts??

Don't know if the 360 rad will be enough to cool all the parts but I'll probably not oc that much if any. The case has plenty of room so adding a rad shouldn't be a problem.

I'm after a silent build so I'll guess advice on fans would be needed as well.

Thanks a lot!

Don't know much about Universal Waterblocks.

EK has universal waterblocks. But im not sure if their corrosion problem is fixed with their nickel blocks.

I would recommend an RX360 kit, but im not sure if it can handle a CPU+2 GPUs

For fans, it depends on your rad. Scythe GT's are usually very good but expensive. I would go push-pull w/ fan controller if you have one.

Run distilled/silver kill coil. Colored tubing if you want color.

I'm sure EK have a few blocks that'll fit. Try this to see if you can find your card there: http://www.coolingconfigurator.com

Are your graphics cards reference ones?? If so Koolance has full cover blocks for them.

Thanks for the tip, I've just emailed Koolance and sent them pictures, when looking on the coolingconfig for EK blocks my cards are listed as none fullblock but they have universal ones.

I'll look in to xspc stuff, I could add another rad in my case though if that'll help, would you say that I should go for xspc CPU block as well?

The block that comes in the kit has excellent value.

Its not "THE" best. But its so awesome!

Swiftech's mcw82.

Great universal block, I own one myself. Probably the only downside to universal blocks is that you have to provide airflow over the videocards/you have to install passive heatsinks. They're cheap and great, offering better cooling for the gpu core than full-covers. And they're future-proof. Also, they're your only choice if you have a non-reference card unless you are really lucky and someone like EK has a non-reference full-cover for your card.

That kit is a great place to start. It is a good value and the parts are high quality (except for the tubing, you'll have to replace that). The xspc CPU block is remarkably good.

Thanks to all of you for taking time to answer! Got the answer from Koolance and no full cover blocks available for my 460's. However they suggested this: http://www.koolance.com/water-coolin...product_id=966
So I'll go for tamas suggestion regarding the gpu's to start with as probably will get me a new GPU next year when the price has dropped on 590's. As for the cpu I'm still not sure whether to go with EK or XSPC, have checked out DazMode's videos and from what I understand EK makes quality stuff and the xspc one is hard to get a hold of in sweden...All these questions... Thanks again guys!
