Win 7 64: Is it possible to sort folders by size?

Thread Starter
I have a whole bunch of folders and I'd like to sort them by size but for some reason sorting by size seems only to work for files themselves. So if there is a folder around a file you can't sort by size, you can either sort the files inside the folder by size or take the files out of the folder to sort them.

Am I doing something wrong or is it just not possible in Windows to sort folders by size? I also tried that on XP, Win does not seem to detect the size of folders when it comes to sorting them. You can hover your mouse over the folders to see the size or open properties to view the context menu.

Thanks.

(a "Context Menu" is what you get whenever you right-click)

Unfortunately, there's no way to say "Sort Folders by Size while ignoring the files that are among these folders".

I mean, I know what you mean: sorting by size moves the folders around too.

You have to rely on third party apps. This is definitely one of the more annoying things about Windows.
