MSI GT780DXR Thread - Page 4

slight update I am now running on an unlocked 30e raid bios on my gt780dx-215US, I have hit the stable limits of my GPU

hx3.png

I have just also purchased a 2860qm was going to get the 2920xm but on my unlocked bios still no access to multipliers so saw no point in getting the xm processor.

I am contemplating with changing the 570m GPU card for the 6990m? what do you all think to me doing that?

Can it support a wattage jump of that level? That's the last big question. The 570M is a 75w GPU. the 6990M is a 100w GPU. The last thing you want is to pull more than you can provide, which would eliminate the point of upgrading to a new GPU. frown.gif

I would check into it first, and really... you're fine as is. You're matching a stock GTX 460, or close enough that it doesn't matter by this point. tongue.gif

@James5 , I don't think you need to upgrade to 6990M , it's not worth it.
570M is a powerful card and and no need for upgrade.

i7-2860QM is a good upgrade though.

No f3 is just recovery if you want to make a backup use MSI Burn recovery takes about 3 dvd's to do it, means you can totally wipe hard drives and then reintstall using the DVD's you created

Yeah, about mid December the 580m models should be rolling in. What a great laptop that will be. Great body, perfect specs, awesome laptop. I'm so glad I waited to get this laptop instead of purchasing one in November. Who else plans on snagging it?

Is this laptop good?
What if you put a 180GB SSD into it?
Can it play BF3?
How good is the stock Intel Core i7-2670QM?

I just returned from a trip.

The MSI GT780DXR was bouncing around in a trunk for hours and days on very bumpy dirt rutted jungle roads. It works perfectly. Very well built.

It would be alot quicker with and SSD, Yes it can play BF3 for hours without fault, I had the 2630qm in place and it was fine, ok I have upgraded to a 2860QM but purely as one came up for a good price

Well, I'm thinking of getting the following setup instead of a new desktop. I think it'd be more useful in the long run, especially for college:

capturais.jpg

Looks good? What do you think?

Can it even run BF3 at a playable framerate?
