There we go. Moto still makes phones, Google makes Android. However, it might be an advantage for all OEM partners due to Google's more direct access and control over hardware. That means, they can now improve upon software optimizations for Android devices since they have a large manufacturer backing them up.
Hopefully, I was never keen on Motorola hardware.

They actually make good, solid phones (Droid, Droid X, Atrix) but their problem has always been software with their counter-intuitive BLUR interface. Now that Google bought Moto Mobility, then we have a good chance we'll be seeing Motorola Nexus and vanilla Android devices.

Just what I was thinking.

Wow, this is a /popcorn moment. Apple has been quite full of themselves lately.

Let the games begin. I cannot fathom how many Inventions related to communications Motorola initiated in the last 20 years.

The question is how many are still in force. This part is really important. Patents have maintenance you have to pay periodically etc, to keep them current, and ultimately they do get END-Dated.

Meaning, yeah, you have the patent but at some point it's run it's course and you lose your protection.

The obvious question is, How much of the 17K patent portfolio is enforcable NOW, and how much points the barrel in Apple's general direction...?
