Amd Athlon x4 640 OC - Page 2

You are going to want a faster NB speed. You need to bump up the CPU/NBv to around 1.4v and raise the ref. clock to around 240.Lower your CPU multiplier to 14.5,also bump up HTTv to 1.355v,RAM to 1.65v and set the timings to around 8-8-8-22-30.You should try to get NB @ 2700-2800MHz,HTT @2000-2200,RAM 1500-1600MHz and CPU around 3300MHZ.A cheap cooler like mine would do wonders, but if you can't afford one concentrate on maximizing your case airflow and maybe even try lapping your stock cooler.I have done it before and saw an easy 5c improvement with a good high-performance thermal grease. Also a reminder to make sure your VRM's don't get too hot!

Sounds good Redwoodz, will try it afterwards and report back here!

I think it's the NB speed I have screwed up with, currently the volt is on Auto and the speed is around 1800.

I have absolutely no idea where I should set RAM timings, I've been in the RAM options but no where to find anything with numbers to do.. maybe I haven't looked hard enough as I haven't focused on it yet.

Thanks again!

Ok I'm back after changing the settings suggested by Redwoodz.

First: I have absolutely no idea as said about changing RAM timings so I didn't touch it, I went into the advanced DRAM menu (sub-menu under Cell menu) and yes, there are MANY options for changing different CLKS / Timings, though I have no clue which one I shall change.

Aswell I can set the changes for DCT1, DCT2, BOTH & AUTO. <- Whut?

--

All of the rest I have changed. And haven't tried Prime95 yet before this post (will try it after this post though and report back of the results). But idle temp as unimportant as it is, is about 45c now.

EDIT:

Ran Prime95 just to see if it crashed after 5 seconds as usual but it didn't. I stopped it when I reached 72c and the vCore was about 1.5(!).

Bump.. What should I look at for changing timers?

I go to Cell menu -> Advanced Dram Config -> And there's a long list of stuff for me to change, everything includes numbers in different variables. But makes absolutely no sense in my head *shame*

Borrowed this screenshots from another user that shows my DRAM menu.
