HD6750 or HD5830

post #1 of 18
Thread Starter
Here's my Rig:

Pentium Dual Core E2200 2.2GHz-->2.93GHz
Asus P5G41C-M LX
Kingston 2x1GB DDR2 667MHz-->887MHz
CoolerMaster Hyper 212 plus
Antec TP-550

Help me decide between HD5830 or HD6750.

Thanks in Advance

All i can say is..bottleneck will play a role in either of those choices.

A comparison of the two cards based on manufacturer specs

Some numerical data for comparison, calculated based on specs

http://www.pro-clockers.com/videocar...ideo-card.html

A review of the 6750.

This page shows that the 5830 will exceeed the 6750 in real-world performance though in some cases the margin is small.

You should look into perhaps the 68xx series of ATI cards.

Go with the HD6750. IIRC it performs a bit better and it's on a newer platform. Cheers.

Well bottleneck is one of my concerns... so what would be the best card that wouldn't be bottlenecked by my system. i don't like to spend on a card that i cant fully utilize its power, a waste on money.

Help me on this... thanks for the input guys

Your system will bottleneck both of those cards. If budget is your main concern, get whichever you can find for less. If you are trying to be (more) future proof to plan for a cpu/mobo upgrade in the future, get the 6750.

You get could like a gts250 or something around that..still a pretty decent card.

Sir i have no plans of upgrading in the near future, i just want a card that would run with this rig. no problem with budget, but i dont want to spend on something i cant fully utilize. I think i have to downgrade, any suggestions?

My 8500GT died on me, so i need to replace it.

That sucks. But yeah, one stopgap would be to look on OCN or in eVGA b-stock for a GTS 250. They're functionally like 9800GTX+ cards. (and I can vouch those are some pretty beefy cards!)
