there are allot of 460 owners on this forum and I don't see any reason to see why to take it out of price vs performance top slot, including BF3 which I had the alpha testing privilege and also very happy with about every game I play as well including all the hardest ones

-GTA 4/EFLC latest patch (steam)

lol even with my current RIG, sometimes still below 30 FPS for god sake man..

(1440x900, setting is max out, every distance config is set 100, all very high, except texture set to medium due to the vram limitation of my GC)

might i want to try OC my stock processor, for god sake ...

===========================================

even i have BF3 Premium playing on 64 MP Bandar Desert, FPS is 50-90+ ...(setting all High No AA, 1440x900)

cant belive that OLD 2008 game gta 4 , might be a really bad port?

- Metro is the best scaling game. But on a single or dual GPU system it can be a slideshow in certain areas.
- Crysis is not properly optimised and does not scale over 2 GPUs. Also it is made for dual cores and has lost driver support hence has some levels where fps drops real low. Warhead is a bit better.
- Sleeping dogs with extreme AA is another game that requires a tri or quad sli setup to run above 60fps average.
- borderlands 2 with physx at high is also poorly optimised tough it's new and with proper driver support should improve.

But by far the most "demanding" :cough:Poorly Optimised:cough: game is shogun 2. I mean on my setup in big battles it goes down to under 15 fps. This makes it almost completely unplayable.

I'll never understand why people fawn over Metro 2033 so much... It's crappy optimization that makes it so demanding and nothing else. Yeah there is a lot of engine mechanics going on to improve the look of the game, but you spend 75% of your time in a corridor the size of my urethra. Seriously people, any other game built in that small of an area with the same effects would have 20-50% higher frames. The textures are a hodgepodged mess of crap and awesome. The only reason people think it looks really good is because the crappy textures are both

A:) cleverly placed on objects that people often ignore. To this I give the designers a huge amount of credit, because in order to do most of what I've seen at least one person on the team had to have spent a lot of time studying how human sight and attention works, because they pulled it off flawlessly.

B:) Put in areas where you can't see them because of poor lighting or because you'll be viewing it from a moderate to long (relative to the fact the game is a corridor shooter) distance through the gasmask.

Not denying that the game looks good. Not denying that it's fun, but it's not some golden standard by any means in terms of quality, it's just average. With some of the engines out there now it's not hyperbole to say that a game could be produced that looks as good or better than Metro on the scale of Planetside 2, while achieving the same performance.

The lighting and shaders are what make people fawn over it. But you're correct, however I'm more confused over BF3 and it's graphics hype.

As for the PC game having the highest hardware requirements, at least for max settings it is ArmA 2.

What do you define as big? Shogun 2 battles can be massive. I'm pretty sure the maximum battle size would be about 8 players with a maximum of 40 units each. The largest units I think when you use Oda can be up to 200 men. that is nearly 64,000 men moving around (not 64k because generals take away a bit). I'd say it is demanding not poorly optimised. I can even play what I'd consider "large" battles on my rig in eyefinity.

That's not the recommended specs per se.

That's the highest tested specs.

Coming from a 32 bit os user, the only game I know of that can put your pc to it's knees is Battlefield 3. I've tried running this game on max settings with the fullest anti aliasing possible. After around 5 to 10 mins in, I get a fullscreen lock up. I started the game again next time, turned all anti aliasing off, SSAO down to the minimum possible, still on 1980x1020 res, visuals still on max other than shadowing now on medium, and STILL, brings my PC to breaking point, My only other option is really to run max settings under 1440x900 resolution with 80 fps instead of 60 under 1980x1020 res, game wont crash as often like this, but the game is pretty unplayable because the anti aliasing takes a nosedive. All of this is with Vsync off too.

Stay away from 32 bit os's, it's like virtual poison.
