Sorry, that's not what I meant. By "F*" I meant the function keys (F1-F12), and that occasionally it's difficult to hit the right one in the dark. And when I'm playing a game my hands (right hand specifically) aren't on the home row so it can be tricky to even find a normal letter key for a game command. Backlighting would make it a bit easier to just peek at the keyboard for some guidance.

wouldn't it be really difficult to navigate your OS (at least windows?)

Yessir.
The concept of using a tablet for normal navigation does seem strange, given that it's used for mainly photo work...but I have to say, I can work at least twice as fast with a tablet compared to a mouse. And as ridiculous as it sounds, I find FPS games far easier with a tablet.

Wow. I've had a tablet for a while and almost never use it (hence it being for sale). I never gave serious thought to using it for gaming. Do you use the pen or your finger(s)?

You should try it, it's actually quite fun.

I use the pen. It's far more accurate, responsive, and precise than touch.

As a mechanical KB user, 8. Logitech Trackman trackball mouse, also 8.

How well the computer responds to the commands of these devices, 10

I've never tried a mechanical keyboard, but for me keyboard depends on macro keys, I don't really mind how the keys feel under my fingers as long as they type.
So, a 3.
Mouse, however, is pretty big. I've gotten used to my G9x and never run it below the maximum of 5700DPI; I can't tell you how much easier it is for me in terms of productivity to be able to move my mouse about half an inch and be across the screen. So, definitely a 10.

EDIT: Oh wait, just found out I can change mouse acceleration. Make that 1/8th of an inch.

I don't understand how people use crappy input devices. It's your interface with your pc after all.
Some people don't live at their computer dude.
