unlikely that damage will occur.

2100T is only a 35w part, so it should be fine.

When you say "65w", how much of that is on the +12v rail?

A similar system was hitting 40w here: http://www.missingremote.com/review/...tx-motherboard

However, power consumption was not during a GPU + CPU stress test.
Once again...

The PSU posted is built into the case so its not conventional (has a laptop like brick), the spec page just says 65w ( http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3109#sp ).

Any reason why you are using this case, max weight you can put on it is a 23" Monitor (5 kg or 11 lbs) , to me thats hardly a big enough display for an htpc

I'm gonna take off the hinge bit, I just really like the look of the case to be fair as it fits in with my AV equipment size wise and colour. I have a 32 inch tv

I am familiar with a DC-DC adapaters.

The AC power from your wall goes into a AC-DC unregulated PSU (power brick). The DC power then goes into the DC-DC adapter which creates +12v, +5v, +3.3v, and -12v.

You should contact Gigabyte about the PSU specs. It might be something like +12v@3A (36w) and +5v@6A (30w). They might be calling this a 65w PSU when it should be called a 45w PSU.

You can always get your own PSU: http://www.logicsupply.com/categories/power_supplies

If you're not using the hinge.... why not just get a nicer HTPC case?
