[TeK] Apple can block competitors for 25 years - Page 3

I find this ironic and absurd on many levels, largely because the iPad is one of the least original things I have ever seen. Pretty much every PDA and 10,000 sci-fi devices from way back when are all essentially tablet PCs.

Paramount Pictures should sue the crap out of them for copying the Star Trek "PADDs".

I have yet to see other companies trying to block the iPad from being sold. Also, there are Apple fanboys on this site that post only good news about Apple as well, so the pendulum swings both ways here on OCN.

If there is other news you wish to post, you are free to do so. Why should you impose your opinion on others who choose to post this?

Causation != Correlation. Just because there's LOTS of negative stories about Apple doesn't mean that anyones trying to elicit a negative response. Maybe Apple is trolling themselves then because KEEP creating more and more negativity.

The fact of the matter is they're getting negative press and negative remarks because they deserve it. When you troll the patent system and try to push out competitors through bogus patents on things you didn't even create, you deserve it.

All the other patent trolls deserve the same treatment. Its a dirty way of doing business. Doubly dirty for Apple since they patent ridiculously generalized concepts.

I do? Maybe you're just projecting your emotions onto me.

You asked for it... Licensing is usually a minimum of $1/device. With something like this, where they'd have their competitors' balls in a vice? Expect $10/device or more, which would drive up the competition's prices and funnel huge amounts of money to Apple without any effort on their part.

and it's an admission that the licensor has the right to the design - which for a slim black frame around a screen is nonsense. Pads & tablets following this design have been around well before the iPad.

But there was no patent before... If only could someone from other companies had patented this idea before Apple then it'd become Apple.

@Phaedrus, no effort? An idea is worth much more than materials that make up it, that's why Americans still make money even though the Chinese just produce all of the devices.

There's something called prior art. Look it up.
