As long as that does not get changed, this will continue by every company that owns vague patents.
So if somebody kill someone with a gum, should we blame the gunmakers and not the killer?

The fact that the system is broken doesn't mean any company should be able to abuse it.

Apple deserve all the bad rep they are getting as any other corporation that do the same.

That doesn't make it fair or unfair, it's simply the way it goes. Other companies are capitalizing off of Apple's marketing by producing similar products, while it may seem vague to you, Apple basically created the tablet market we have today and cause a whole new sector for other companies to profit from. Now we do have an economy where supposedly you can compete equally no matter how large, but in this case one could easily say that all of the tablet profits other companies are getting are indirectly caused by Apple's handiwork.

It sounds very restrictive, but had Apple not made the iPad, I'm guessing we would have virtually no tablet market.
Yes apple make the tablet popular, but that doesn't mean they invented it

Make something popular doesn't mean they should get and abuse the patent for it. Even more if it is as vague as a rectangular shape thing with a touchscreen.

No it doesn't, and I never said it did. Don't try and put words into my posts. I was merely stating that if one thinks about, most revenue from the current tablet market is almost directly caused by Apple's creation and advertising of the iPad. Everybody is doing this alarmist tyle "OMG THEY PATENTED A RECTANGLE WITH A TOUCHSCREEN" and acting like they're suing everybody that made a rectangular touchscreen device. Rather they are suing, in this case, a company whose product looks incredibly similar to theirs.

It is clear of day that there is no Apple product that resembles such patent. The vents and buttons alone is enough to tell the difference. Apple is patenting designs that are not apart of any of their products.

Im not worried at all about this. Apples attacks on both Samsung and Motorola the other two leading tablet makers will put them in a monopoly situation and that will be the end of that.

From the front, the average uninformed purchaser of a tablet would quite easily confuse them. Just because you know they are different does not mean that people will not confuse them. Granted the back of them are much different, but I don't know of any store that displays the back of the tablets exclusively rather than the front.

It seems hard for people on this website to understand that they are in the minority of tech purchasers. Most people who buy computers are uninformed, confused, and generally misled people. Just because we are in a haven of tech info with a community of people who know much more than the average person about tech does not mean that everyone in the world knows as much as we do about tech.

If I may speak so freely, it seems Apple has learned a bit from Microsoft's roots, or more from Bill Gates himself. Bill Gates found loopholes that he exploited in the system, and now so is Apple. Amazing between the OS rivalry and Apple just follows right in Microsoft's footsteps.
