IS oc with this mb and cpu safe???

Alright i got a Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 motherboard and want to get a 1035t and possible overclock it as high as i can possible 4ghz. I did this with a phenom 955. I was wondering since my motherboard doesn't support 125 tdp models of the hexacores. Will it be safe overclocking with this thing. If yes what will be the maximum safe overclock for this board?

No. That motherboard will not handle an overclock well at all. It is a 3+1 phase VRM that you will likely fry with anything more than a mild OC for any significant period of time. I would push that CPU to 3.5GHz MAX if at all on that motherboard - if you're planning on using it for a while, that is.

Your board as Gigabyte GA-MA78LMT-S2 doesn't have heatsink on VRM, maybe overclockable set a 3,6Ghz.

how bout the 955 should i have pushed it to 4ghz or is that even more dangerous?
The 955 would have been worse to OC as it's 125W before the OC. I would say 125W would be the max this board could possibly handle, so OCing from here would be bad.

At 95W there's a bit of headroom, but I don't think it would take much to push a 95W to the 125W thermal range. That board wasn't designed for overclocking as most reviews say the BIOS is a crippled OCer, and that board is the minimum possible to run a hex-core in terms of power-conditioning.

If you're CPU requires a lot of voltage to OC much you'll hit the limits of that board in terms of power required before it hits the 125W range.

OCing is tricky business when you do it with a cheap board, make sure it's something you can afford to replace should it burst into flame.

looks like gigabyte screwed me over, paid 75 a couple months ago thinking its a good mb. So its alright if i undervolted and overclocked not exceeding the standard voltages of 1.4v. Can u recommend any matx mb under 70 that will handle a overclock like 4ghz?
Good for the x6 at stock perhaps, not more.
I've seen a couple of this particular motherboard in the broken motherboards pile at FreeGeek Vancouver already - and both had fried VRMs.
The 3+1 VRM design is definitely known for failures (aside from the broken boards I've seen there have been a lot of reported fails online on this board).... and not 4Ghz ready.

You need a motherboard with at least QUALITY 4+1 VRM WITH COOLING (you can add this yourself for ~$10) to overclock an x6.
