PSU not working with 24 pin connected

Thread Starter
So i connected everything up today and when i tried powering on my pc the fans would start but it would not boot,I had my 24 pin eatx cable from my corsair builder series 600w psu connected.I decided to troubleshoot and realised that when i did not connect the 4 pin breakaway on the connector the pc booted up with no problems.Just wondering if not using the 4 breakaway pins on an atx mobo is ok and is there a fault with my PSU?

Not enough Amps?

I had a old PSU which was 600W, and it woulden't work with my system, until I got a PSU with much more amps, since then, it's been good as gold.

And there was nothing wrong with that 600W PSU either, it worked like fairys in my old system.

So with the 24 pin using only 20 pins and the 8 pin connected everything works fine?
