Urgent Help, Server wont POST!

Thread Starter
I send 2x2gb GSkill DDR2-667 4-4-4-12 to replace my 2x1gb DDR2-667 5-5-5-15.

Today the data center swapped out my memory after checking the memory was set to auto in the bio which it was already. After they swapped it they started it up and it wont POST. So they swapped the old memory back it and it wont post. They swapped PSU and it wont post and they pulled the heat sink and the CPU is properly seated and has proper thermal paste. They tried pulling the SATA2 HD and it wont post. They reset the bio (pulled the battery) and it wont POST! They are currently letting the battery sit out for an hour. They inspected the MOBO and it appears fine with no blotted capacitors. When he pulled it out and set it on the work bench he heard no rattles of loose screws. He was completely puzzled why it wont POST. It was running before, it ran before perfectly for 5 years and prior to opening it up he turned it on to check the bio and it POSTED then.

Specs:
Intel 946 GZIS, Core 2 Duo E6600, SATA2 HD, some 200 watt U1 server PSU (double checked with a second), and two separate pairs of memory (one ran for 5 years flawlessly and the second is brand new GSKILL.

Any Ideas???? My Box never goes down unless I reboot it or its manually shut down!

HELP!

PSU Might be aged too much, or the mobo has died. Short the PSU by putting a paperclip or a wire in the (24pin ATX) Green into any black, and see if the PSU powers on.

Note, don't touch the wire when your PSU has power, don't go shocking yourself XD

They tested the server with another PSU. It turns on with both PSUs but doesnt POST. Just sits at a black screen. No beeps or nothing.

While I completely agree with you its 900 miles away in the hands of a data center and I recommended that already.

Plus im sure they want $85 an hour. This was supposed to be my one free hour of admin time.

Datacenters are very dry in terms of relative humidity. The smart gentleman that did the RAM swap for you didn't wear a grounded static wristband and he damaged you gear with an ESD discharge. I bet money on it...

You know OCN users I never hear any of you mention ESD!!! Don't any of you appreciate the dangers of ESD!!! Especially if your in a dry climate.

if you touch your case that touches the mobo you ground yourself and will prevent damage. Yet a grounded static wristband is the way to go, no arguments here.
