No, that is not what I am saying. Have you even played the game at all? I was referring to the players who take the game seriously. Whether the hardcore or the ones trying to play at a tournament level. Have you ever been harassed by a player who is insulting and flaming you during a game for doing something small? For example, the players who ***** at you for not playing a supportive role when you are the tank or the initiator. The players who are pissed off because the game isn't going their way, so instead they are blaming the team and not himself.
I know that this occurs in other games sometimes, but games like DotA takes the cake. Not even CoD players are this bad since most of them just play TDM or any solo mode. So what if DotA 2 has the coaching and the tools necessary for a beginner to use? HoN has the same thing with the tutorial and the resources on their site for beginning players to use. They even have matchmaking, but it is hit or miss since higher tier players make smurf accounts for ****s and giggles. It is whether the player wants to utilize it or not.
Of course, this is HoN itself, but the same happens in DotA. IceFrog and others run DotA related sites that has guides and what not for beginners to read. I am sure that DotA 2 will do well since IceFrog is behind it and Valve is giving financial support. This is what IceFrog needed since the WC3 engine is limited because of its age.
All I am trying to say is that games like DotA will always have similar communities. Even LoL has the problem, but not as bad as DotA or HoN since they consider it more hardcore than LoL. Besides, DotA 2 is being made by the guy who is responsible for making DotA insanely popular. Why wouldn't the current DotA and HoN players switch? Therefore, they'll bring the same attitude that had since the start.
