Macro keys..what to use them for

Thread Starter
so I just got a blackwidow ultimate mechanical keyboard (before you rail me on why I got this, I wanted a backlight)

And this is the first time I've had macro keys dedicated, and within good reach

I play CS:S and BF:BC2 a lot, sometimes racing games like LFS or DIRT... I also on occation play WOW and TF2

What are these keys good for? I tried binding one in game and the keys aren't recoginized as anything useful so idk how to set these up or how to get the game to recognise them as a second function....

first person shooters don't usually make good use of macro keys at all. Games like WoW, LoL, Dota. any MMO make much better use of macro keys.

Usually these keys are not recognized by the game itself. instead you use them to replicate another key press or series of key presses such as ctrl+9 or 1+3+5 + 4 or something odd to press.

My experience with a G15 keyboard is i use a separate application that came with it to record my key presses with timings so that when i want to shoot off a series of spells or something in game, i only press one button.

Hmmm... The fact that its not recognized as its own button, in my opinion, makes them very useless, as I already use like every other key binding in WOW on my keyboard

It would just make them good for multiple keystroke binds...which isn't really all that useful... I don't see what the craze is about them then...wow
