Alrighty, here goes my first guide/info/opinion.
So you just got BF2 and are working up the ranks, now it's time to unlock a few weapons. My first advice, is don't go with the "best gun" anyone says there is, get the gun for which ever kit you play/like the most. That way, when you play your favorite kit, you can pwn. I'll put a
next to the ones i use.
Here are the guns for vanilla BF2:
Spec Ops- G36C- medium damage and high accuracy at long (single shot) and close (auto) ranges. Good overall gun, i like it better than the SCAR-l
Sniper- M95- HIGH damage! brings any opponent (armored and unarmored) down to two bars of health, they slip down a slope and they are dead. Accuracy is good, but at long ranges, hard to get head shots off because of the large crosshairs. Better for medium range sniping and camping. And if you want to claymore whore on Strike at karkand, it's a good gun to have with you, just pull it out and BAM down to two bars and team mate near you will finish the enemy off with one shot if you don't have time to pull out your pistol. Also able to shoot through bullet proof glass in vehicles. useful for camping heli or plane spawn points (pick him off as soon as he gets in) and if a car is coming at you full speed, line up with his head an BAM headshot, he's dead and you are saved.
Assault- G3- high damage, cool sound, good accuracy. I don't like it because of the 20 shot clip- miss and you are dead reloading. You don't have grenade launcher though, you get hand grenades.
Engineer- MK3A1- 7 shot auto shot gun, high damage (it's a shotgun), low accuracy (it's a shotgun). Be able to use a pistol if you play engineer as you won't be able to kill anyone beyond 10feet. Be careful when you shoot as it has a long reload time and you take all 7 shots very quickly, so if you miss, pull out your pistol and hope to kill him before he kills you.
Support- PKM- very good gun, high accuracy, high damage (only a few well placed shots will kill somebody). Very good gun over all, but remember it does over heat, and it only has a 100 round magazine. You can pick off shots at a long range.
Medic- L85A1- Good accuracy in single shot mode, but in auto it bounces everywhere. Fair damage as well, so only shoot in bursts (as with most guns).
Anti-tank- DAO-12- 12 shot semi-auto shotgun, what more need i say? Very good for close encounters, but be wary- you must load every shot and if you are reloading 12 rounds, it takes a while, only reload when you have to, and when intense fighting is occuring, don't reload all the time, someone may come from nowhere and you will be stuck with shotgun shells in your hand, and you are dead.
Now, onto the SF guns- (must play 30mins on SF)
Spec Ops- SCAR-L- OK gun, with good damage and accuracy, but like the L85A1, it tends to have lots of kick and becomes inaccurate very quickly.
Sniper- L96A1- More accurate than the m95, more damage than the m24- good for long range sniping, but unlike the m95, can't shoot through bullet proof glass. Has smaller sights than the m95 and is the a very good gun.
Assault- F2000 w/ F2000GL + Flashbang- Great gun- high accuracy and damage- crosshairs finally for an assault gun instead of ironsights. The GL is pretty much the same as the rest- no differences you can tell, but remember, stand still if you want an accurate shot with it.
Engineer- MP7- small little PDW, not the best weapon. Finally though, an alternative from the shotguns for the engineer. Be prepared to use your whole clip to kill someone as the low damage will make you shoot them a LOT. It's not the most accurate either, i've hit people with most of the clip, but it's gone up so much, it miss with the last bit and then get killed.
Support- MG36- High accuracy, damage, ROF and don't forget, you can get 77 shots off before it over heats, veryuseful if someone pops up from nowhere, you can just spray them, and you will kill them before you overheat unlike the other guns. Not as accurate as the PKM, but it does have the option of a three round burst.
Medic- G36E- very good gun for the medic, the only 3 shot burst i like. Accurate, powerful.
Anti-tank- P90- Ok gun, good if you learn how to use it. OK damage (the bullets aren't the biggest), ok accuracy, but 50 round clip. Never fire full auto unless they are 5 feet away from you . you WILL miss them, and even in single shot mode, you aren't going to hit them will all the shots, better to pull out your pistol sometimes. But it looks really cool and is on Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis. as well as in a Bond movie, and i don't know what else.
So that's it, my first guide. BTW, my nickname is
anoverdose
so look me up if you want.
