Laptop Temperatures

Thread Starter
I have new HP G series pavilion laptop, equiped with a Core i5 and intel integrated hd graphics. Although Im not sure about the accuracy of the HW monitor from CPUID but it tells me Im idling at about 50c on the cpu and under load(short prime95) it reaches over 80c!. I also purchased a laptop cooling pad with some more ram. The cooling pad I purchased here, isnt worth jack either.

I understand that its a laptop with minimal airflow but 50C just to browse the web seems a bit to high for me. Anyone else experience this or am I just being paranoid?

Which i5 is it?

You could also check temps with something like AIDA64 or CoreTemp if you're worried about HWMonitor being inaccurate.

I have a laptop with some old AMD CPU. Simply web browsing it's around the 70C mark but it's max safe temperature was something like 95C.

Its an i5 Sandy Bridge. Checked temps again, same thing. Seems like I might just be paranoid haha.

80 is pretty normal.

If it really bothers you, you can try to redo the thermal paste.
