CD-Rom Re-Vamp

To put this simply and quickly, I'm buying black spraypaint tomorrow to finish spraying some pieces that I cut up that will be used to mount a 'fan tower' (just made that term up, nothing really exciting so don't get all ).

Is there a certain process/paint I need to go about/use if I wanted to spray the outer housing of my CD-Rom drive black? It kills me to have all of my innards black and then see the gray peak through the holes.

Sand, prime 1, light sand, prime 2, light sand, paint 1, light sand, paint 2, light sand, paint 3, light sand, sealer/coating 1, sealer/coating 2

Edit: even with all this, when sliding the drive in, paint may scratch off. Powder coating is really the only way to get a very good color treatment job.

hah that's way too much effort compared to what I was hoping I'd do. A simple spray over wouldn't suffice? I won't be taking it out ever once I put it back in. If this won't exactly work, I'll just leave it as is.

Well yeah, you could just sand and paint. As long as you put the drive back in when its completely dry and do it carefully, it shouldn't be a problem.
