Will a 700w keep up with my new OC? - Page 2

Wuh? My 700W is not enough for me..... I heavily overclocked my GTX480 and my CPU at one time, Furmark (Xtreme settings) and Prime95 Torture test bought my computer out of the 700W range and it was pulling 768W, 2 minutes after, my PSU was starting to smell.

Used a wall socket Watt meter at the time.

What he has now is total overkill for one GPU...

Protip: find the TDP of your components and add them up. If your CPU is overclocked, use a PSU calculator to calculate its overclocked wattage.

that was from the wall, if the PSU efficiency is 85% then it would be around 650w for your rig and with that CM PSU im not sure it would provide 650w that well, however a a much better quality 700w PSU would power your rig just fine. That's why your PSU started to smell:

EDIT:

BTW how did you draw almost 800w from the wall with your setup?? that's crazy.

Well, it's been several days and the new PSU seems to be working out just fine. Now I'm satisfied. It's all clean now. No snakes everywhere.
