Performance drop on two GTX 295

Thread Starter
I managed to get my hands on another GTX 295 and installed it so I could have a three monitor setup. The problem is that I am having worse performance than when I had one monitor plugged in. I have the same monitor (which displays the games) plugged into one GTX 295 and the other two plugged into the second GTX 295 and both of the GPUs have sli enabled for their own card. I seem to be losing about 20 fps in Bulletstorm and I am having random big frame drops and general frame loss in FFXIV. Is there a better way to set it up?

QUAD SLI 295 can take some tweaking of the game profiles to get scaling working correctly.

Try Nvidia Inspector and play around with settings for your game profile.

If no luck install earlier drivers like 197.xx and install nHancer, you can then try different SLI flags to get proper scaling.

Another method is to change the default profile if your unable to get a game profile working.

So, your current setup is:- 1 monitor to 1st card + 2 monitors to 2nd card.

This setup is not 'given' according to Nvidia. See pic below. They say:- 2 monitors to 1st card + 1 monitor to 2nd card.
Link:http://www.nvidia.com/object/3dv-sys...echnology.html

I am not certain if this is the cause of the erratic framerate drops. But regardless, better stick with Nvidia's method of monitor connection.

That diagram to me looks like it is when it is in Quad sli which I only have each card doing sli with itself.

I dont want to run Quad Sli because every time I have tried it says that I can only have two monitors being able to use. It only allows one on each 295.

After playing around with it for a bit more it seems I get worse performance when I have any type of SLI going. Is there a certain driver set I should be using because others cause problems?

I tried doing Quad sli with two monitors and its performance was worse than having each card doing Sli with itself.

I tried having one card do sli with itself and using only one monitor but that performance was worse than when I would do no sli at all.

Why dont you sell the second 295 and get a gts 450 to drive your other 2 monitors. A GTX 295 is wasted without games . . .

I would love to do Quad sli if I could get it set up correctly. And I am borrowing the second 295 to see how it would all work out.
