Lenovo W520?

In the market for a new laptop, I've had IBM's, and then Lenovo's since the T61 and had great experiences with them, but of course I'm open to anything.

Main use will be business/school, half a dozen RDP instances and a few dozen various types of documents open at any one time. No CAD specifically, but I will be making heavy use of the CUDA processing ability for a few projects. And of course, it'd be nice to be able to play a game every now and then (meaning quite often).

I spec'd out a W520 below:

-Intel Core i7-2820QM Processor (2.30GHz, 8MB L3)
-15.6" FHD (1920 x 1080) LED Backlit Anti-Glare Display
-NVIDIA Quadro 2000M Graphics with 2GB DDR3 Memory
-4 GB DDR3 - 1333MHz (1 DIMM)8
-320 GB Hard Disk Drive, 7200rpm4
-DVD Recordable
-Bluetooth 3.0
-Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 (3x3 AGN)

Then I was planning on replacing the stock RAM, Hard Drive and DVD drive with:
-16 gigs of Kingston HyperX 1600MHz RAM - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820104257
-OCZ Vertex 3 Max IOPS Edition - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227714
-Hitachi TravelStar 750 - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822145521

The idea is to buy a 3rd party Ultrabay adapter (since the stock ones don't actually fit the W520) and replace the DVD drive with a second drive bay, giving me the 120gig SSD as an OS drive and the 750Gb Hitachi for storage.

Looking for opinions on this configuration, alternative suggestions as to either laptops or components to add to this one (different SSD perhaps?). Any suggestions are appreciated.

I have both the W510 and the W520 for work. I like the W510 for PLS Cadd but for everything else the W520 is awesome (Autocad, solid works, microstation, and mathcad.) I take that one with me everywhere. The screen is awesome with the high res.

I do alot of rendering and cad work on these laptops and they never fail or run slow. Def a great choice for solid performance.

I haven't played any games on this yet.

Glad to hear it! Making one change to the above setup, which is to replace the OCZ Vertex 3 with a Crucial M4/C300 - not loving the failure reports on the OCZ Vertex 3.

Looks like a nice rig, just hoping the 3rd party Ultrabay works out well. If anyone has any experience with those I'd appreciate a review.
