Watercooling Suggestions / Tips / Advice

Thread Starter
Hello Overclock community,

I have been thinking about going watercooling for a while now and I am definitely keen on trying it out, now this is what I have in mind so far

Here are the specs to my Rig:

Case: Antec Twelve Hundred Full-Tower Gaming Case
Power Supplie: OCZ 1000W Z Series - ATX 12V, EPS 12V, 135mm Fan, Modular Cables, SLI Ready, 80 PLUS Gold Certified
12xSATA, 6xPCI-E 6+2-Pin
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67-Pro Motherboard
CPUs | Processor: Core i7 2600 Quad Core (3.40GHz - 3.80GHz Turbo)
Cooling: ThermalTake SpinQ CPU Cooler - 120.1mm Fan, 1600rpm
Memory - RAM: 8GB (2 x 4GB) PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3 RAM - 9-9-9-24
Hard Drives - Internal: OCZ 120GB 2.5" Vertex 2 Solid State Disk
MLC, SATA-II Read 285MB/s, Write 275MB/s
CD/DVD/Blu-Ray Drive: 1 x 22x DVD+-RW Dual Layer DVD Burner
Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX580

So that's the specs to my rig, now I am thinking after doing some reading of going with this CPU cooling kit..

It is the XSPC Rasa 750 RX240 Universal CPU Water Cooling Kit, it is not the highest and it aint top notch but it aint chatty and cheap either, after some reviews and research this cooler seems pretty damn good for what you have to pay...

I would like some suggestion I been trying to read up on where to possibly place the radiator INSIDE my case, if anyone antec 1200 watercooling peepz are out there please drop by and give me some of your words of wisdom and even screenshots of your own rigs

the waterblock aint the best, but pair that rad with some gt fans and its hard to get anything better

so long as your not wcing the gpus, you wont need to upgrade the pump or res. id be looking for a better block to get max cooling performance but its not compulsary at all(i wouldnt actually reccomend it if youre budget constrained)

i dont own a 1200, but im sure if you take out 2 of those hdd cages it will fit, might need a bit of modification to fit but i cant see it being much at all

otherwise, its just basic stuff to remember. leak testing is crucial, dont overtighten fittings, teflon tape/silicon gasket wont go astray, run distilled water with silver killcoils or PTnuke, use color tubing if you want color and DONT use dye or dyed coolants, regular checking for corrosion/algae is key, stay away from EK nickel right now etc. this stuff can be found all over the forums

EK Nickel labeled EN is fine.

Mayhem dye is fine, It doesnt block or clog.

And the RASA block is a perfect block. One of the best out there.

RASA RX 360 and an EK 580 FC will do the job for you mate.

you cant go overkill on a psu , so long as you keep ading components youll he maxing it out eventually. besides A) he has already bought the psu. B) ive used OCZ psus for years and never had one problem. ive got a fatal1ty 750w in one build and i put a zx 1250w in my mates build. i highly reccomend them because theyve got great output for a great price and im yet to have 1 die on me or any builds i put them in

you never reccomend dyes anyway. one that doesnt clog one system could wreak havoc on another
