The Intel build will smoke the AMD one if you get a discrete GPU.

AMD because you have a discrete GPU, even if it kind of sucks it'll smoke the i3 and it's pathetic integrated graphics. Also you have the ability to potentially unlock it to a quad core.

If the intel had a discrete GPU then I would go with that but since you can't then don't.

IMO games aren't typically "that" CPU intensive these days, it's moreso about the GPU power than CPU power.

PS: What's your budget and what site(s) do you order from? I'll build you something.

The AMD build with 5670 will definitely win in all scenarios. In the majority of games, GPU is more important than CPU.
You may want to choose Athlon II x4 over Phenom II x2 for similar cost, *IF* the games you play are multithreaded and CPU intensive, such as GTA IV.

I concur with everyone else, that 5670 makes the AMD system a no brainer imo.

Any Athlon II x4 usually has the same price as a Phenom II x2 in N. America. Having 4 cores usually benefits you more than L3 cache.
