[BBC] Why spend £1000 on headphones? - Page 6

What I hate is those Skullcandies, ugh. Why doesn't Sennheiser get those sales? Their headphones are actually good.

no thanks, I will stick to 16/32 ohm drivers.

I did not know that hi-end head phones require 600ohm drivers that is.. nuts.
It's not nuts at all; the Beyers come in 600ohm versions to be paired with high end home systems that can provide the necessary power. This results in a much cleaner sound than you could ever hope to achieve from 16ohm buds

I have the 250ohm DT880's and I can use them with all of my sources; my Auzentech sound card drives them fine, to loud yet undistorted volumes, as does my Pioneer amp, but I can still use them on portable sources, albeit with a sacrifice of slightly lower top end volume. Still an amazing sound though

30% of those surveyed by NPD listed endorsements as very important when deciding what headphones to buy.
So 30% of people would rather buy Poundland headphones if endorsed by a musician than really expensive high end headphones, lol wut I have listened to Poundland headphones and my phone has better sound quality than them lol.

I don't think that Beats By Dr. Dre are worth the money. My sister has pair that she paid £129.99 for and I have a pair of Sennheiser CX300II which I paid £19.99 for and they sound so much better than the Beats By Dr. Dre

How much does it take to drive some 600ohms? 100W? /stupidity

but those beatz has lots of basszzz!! Omgz, even willIam wearz them!! and he's like a musician and stuff.

It's a joke I know. The built in amp is a joke. I listened to them once, to know the hype around them and because they sounded so guud. Well, they don't, they just put in plenty of base and to those teenweens that have lots of mommy's money that equals audio quality.

If people want lots of bass and like the design of the beats, then so be it. No point being a product snob. I understand they aren't the best, but they are a lot better than bundled earphones.

Not all do however the advantage with high impedance headphones is that they are more resistant to current. This results in lower distortion and thus higher fidelity sound. It also means they are more resistant to output impedance variations of devices.
