Im pretty happy with the reference cooler. Quiet, simple, works well, and only takes up 2 slots. I put a backplate and high flow bracket on my card and it is nice and safe now.

Are you having issues with your temps right now? What clocks/voltage are you at?

Here's an option for better cooling while staying on air:

Nothing wrong with the stock cooler unless your ambient temp. is really high.

But +2 on the Accelero if you're having temp. problems.

The only time I had a problem with the stock cooler on the 580s is when I was overclocking in SLI.

At stock with a single card it will run cool and quiet granted you make yourself a custom fan profile that ramps up enough to keep it cool while being quiet.

Yeah, I got up to 88C on stock cooling on my top sandwiched card...
Thanks to blackbalt89 I was able to overclock it to 850MHZ stable and not get over 82C by setting a custom fan profile...
The stock fans are excellent and do not get loud... I would prefer EVGA Precision or even MSI Afterburner for the custom fan profiles... That and add more fans to the GPU itself, like side panel fans...
