Biostar TA990FXE

Thread Starter
For those who may be interested, Biostar has updated their website to include this board with details, finally.

http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/...n.php?S_ID=560

Not sure if I am interested since it's the TA890FXE board with a BD upgrade... would have liked it if they changed the design a little more than the heatsinks. In any event, it's not available at retail yet but should be soon.

Nice find. Would be interested to know the price but I'm guessing that's TBD.

Well, the PCIe layout is better with this board than the TA890FXE, but not by much...
Bit disappointing even if the old fxe is a bloody good board. I guess if it aint broke don't fix it? I would of liked a few changes...

Maybe an I-FX?

It's the same other than changing a full length x1 for a likkle baby x1.

Oh, you're right...I thought that the 2 PCI slots at the bottom were actually PCIe slots at first. So it's not possible to run tri-SLI/tri-Fire on this board with 3 dual-slot GPU's...Yup, just as bad as the TA890FXE...
PCI-E layout still only allows for (in most scenarios) two cards in CrossfireX/SLI... hmm
Perhaps Biostar will be releasing an even higher end board that allows for TriFire/Tri-SLI? I hope so.
so all they did was change out the plastic on the first PCIe 1x slot....

Still....notshureifwantthisorgigabyte/msi.jpg

added it to list BTW

Unfortunately I wish they had made quite a few changes, more SATA, max RAM is still 16 GBs, better PCIe layout so I can use my soundcard if I run more than one GPU, a new color scheme and perhaps different heatsinks... oh well, I was hoping.

I can't see this board selling for more than for $150... it's just a rehash board. They could have just made a revision on the old board... I bet it still has the 4+2 power phase too.

It would be great if Biostar made Tpowers for the new FX Lineup.

TPower series has only been Intel boards I believe. That might change though. I'll be happy as long as Biostar comes out with a new TPower regardless of whether it is Intel or AMD. But I'm assuming they don't make that much from the TPower lineup and decided to stick with the T series.

I wish there were significant changes to the 990FX.
