2600k Decaying after 1 month? - Page 2

Isn't 1.47 pretty close to Intel's tolerance limits? I seem to recall that Intel stated 1.5 V is the maximum safe operating voltage for a Sandy Bridge. Given that a lot of people like to turn on LLC it's possble the vDroop cancellation circuit is swinging the CPU over 1.5 V in transient spikes and this is causing the degradation in performance (assuming the VRMs aren't also degrading fast).

Yes i think so it never exceeded 80c after 12 hours of prime blend,
Why would you need to tri-fire for single monitor gaming? Don't you already max out everything regardless of your CPU's speed?

I would guess your board's VRMs are probably deteriorating. You can always try frying them and getting a new one.

I got a nice boost in gpu usage going from 4.3 (i7-930) to 5ghz so i was being bottlenecked by my old i7, i run at 2560x1440 crysis 2/metro/the witcher 2/stalker clear sky, can easily bring my system to its knees :S actually looking forward to quadfire it, but only when i get the cash for 2 extra monitors

Oh yeah I didn't see your resolution. Nevermind about my previous comment, but isn't your motherboard making your gpus run at 8x/4x/4x currently?

Damn, this thread has me concerned now. I have my 2600k folding nearly 24/7. I have it clocked at 4.6GHz and allowing my mobo to auto volt it, it has been stable for nearly two weeks now. The highest the vcore has hit is 1.376. It usually bounces around 1.360 to 1.368 to 1.376. Are these volts ok for 24/7 100% cpu usage?

I mean 1 month is a really fast time period for degradation. It's hard to blame the voltage more than it just being a fluke crappy chip. Or the mobo.

Were you using Fixed voltage? I like offset, a low idle voltage, healthier for the chip maybe .

Definitely. No reason at all to be worried with that OC.

A lot of people seem to be OK at 1.4v+, maybe you just got a less resilient chip.
Thanks! I was worried since people started talking about safe volts for 24/7 overclocks. Just thought I would be better safe than sorry.

Mine seems to have degraded a tiny tiny bit. I had it at 4.5GHz with 1.28v for about 1-1.5 months then I started getting random BSODs on the desktop and I had to bump the voltage up to 1.3v. It's been fine at 1.3v for about 2 months now so *fingers crossed*.
Yeah your feeding ALOT Of volt for a 32 NM. I try not to push past 1.38. 1.36 is my safe zone for 24/7 use. You got LLC on?? That might be feeding it a bit extra and cause it to reach unsafe vcore.
