ASUS M4A89TD pro/usb3 16GB RAM Issue?

Thread Starter
Hi Geeks:
I built a system with M4A89TD Pro/USB3, Phenom II 965 and Kingston KHX 1600C9D3K2/8GX (2 X 4GB RAM). Everything was great until I decided to upgrade it to 16 GB by adding the same 2 X 4GB Kingston RAM. First I got a BSOD and then it'll never post. If I hit MemOK, I can boot to BIOS with all default settings- but when I make changes to BIOS, it won't post. Error LED blinks back and forth between CPU and RAM. I called ASUS Tech Support- it's a joke. They told that a second level tech will call me- but it has not happened yet!! I am very frustrated with this MoBo and ASUS support.

I tested the memory. I tried D.C.O.P and it takes 1600 with DRAM timings 9-9-9-27 1.65V with 2 sticks and then I added 2 more sticks- it will post, but show only 8GB RAM. Also tried 9-9-9-24 1.55V. Nothing works with fourth stick.

Please let me know your suggestions how to make this 16 GB RAM work. It'll work till 12GB...
Thanks in advance for your support

Try bumping up the CPU-NB voltage.

Thanks for your suggestion.

What is the ideal? What increments should I go? How far can I go?
Sorry for these questions-I don't want to fry anything by increasing it too far?

I would try 1.3v or 1.35v. Max CPU-NB is 1.5v.

Nothing seem to work. I talked to ASUS tech. and he felt that it's the issue with MoBo. So, they'll be sending me a new MoBo. I have to return this crap once I get the new one. I think the new one will work.
Thanks for your support!

Link to DDR3 1333 Qualified Vendors List (QVL)

From a comment on newegg
I don't think i'm reading it right because this doesn't say anything about working with two 8 gig Dimms or 4x4gig

Manufacturer Response:
Dear Valued Customer,

The memory QVL can be downloaded from here prior to purchase:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/AMD...A89TD_PROUSB3/

The DIMMs tested at 16GB configurations together with the ICs used are listed.

Regards
ASUS Customer Support
