How's this for a pleasant surprise: Blizzard has wrapped up testing of its Real ID Party system, allowing World of Warcraft friends who're scattered across realms to band together for dungeon-crawling shenanigans.
Not much of a fan of WoW much anymore (at least the last 9 months), but this is a great feature that probably could have saved me quite a bit of money and a TON of time back in the day. Props to Blizzard for not charging for this great feature that admittedly is losing them money on the front end via paid character transfers.

This may actually get me to re-up. I have a few friends who all play on different servers. It would be great to just be able to 5-man together.
Wonder if includes people on the same server from the other faction though? As that would be pretty awesome.

What's the pricetag?

Pretty sure they'd cash in on something like this.

i thought this feature was only for the people paying more then normal superscription, something like £5 on top of your original £9. Which grants access to this as well as the mobile armory (chat with in game friends) and mobile auction house, as well as more features to come according to blizz?

I'm not 100% sure not played for some time now.

edit: read links from article i guess this was their old plan.

This is the kinda stuff that started to ruin WoW for me - especially the Cross-Realm dungeons and the faction changes.

Back when I started in vanilla there was more of a 'community' feel on the realm I played, you knew most of the important players, you knew who was a scammer, you knew who to look out for in PvP, you knew who would be good in a raid, there isn't really any of that anymore.

Now players can just scam thousands of gold and change their name or people can just switch factions to have an easier time in Battlegrounds or with raids.

This will at least be good for players who have friends on other realms but I can see this being abused somehow.

That is one of the points of RealID...you can't just change your name with a RealID because no matter what character they login as they are still Joe Smith. So if anything, acquire those important players and good raiders and add them to your RealID list and you can play with them no matter where they go.

It is enticing to be able to play one of my high level characters from another realm that I didn't want to transfer to another friends server but I refuse to go back to WoW at this point

I like the cross-dungeon for lower instances. Even on Blackhand (in its prime) it was almost impossible to get a SM run going. 99% of the time a 60 would feel bad and run you through a few times.

That was their original plan, which I thought was still in effect. Great that players will get it for free.

I guess they saved costs by reusing Zul'Aman
