Can't get a stable OC with Phenom X6 1090t

Thread Starter
Hi, the problem is that I can't get a stable overclock that's more than 3.4ghz which is not much compared to the default 3.2ghz. The CPU is being water cooled so I'm pretty sure that overheating is not the problem. Any idea what the problem might be? AMD Auto Tuner or whatever its called in BIOS makes it run at 3.7ghz but it's not stable at all. Turbo V Evo which came with my motherboard also auto tunes it at 3.7ghz and I still get the same results. I've followed tutorials and tried adjusting things in BIOS myself but still can't get a stable OC.

Specs:
AMD Phenom II X6 1090t 3.2ghz
ASUS M4A87TD EV0
4GB DDR3 1333mhz
x2 Ati Radeon 5750 CF
XtremeGear 800w PSU

In case this helps:

So you disabled TurboCore. Yes the cpu will be a bit warmer with TurboCore disabled because it'll run 3200 all the time but still those are too high for watercooling.

While OpenHW monitor running, do a 5-run linx or intelburntest bench and see the load temps. What's the room temp btw ?

I ran 5 intelburntests and the the temp got up to 58 degrees C and averaged probably 54 degrees C. I don't run my PC with the side panels on the case and the room temperature is about 80 degrees F. These temps make me think that the company I bought the computer from didn't bother to fill the radiator with coolant.

Pre-installed watercooling is bad That performance is roughly on par with default cooler, in fact load temps are lower with the default cooler. Maybe pump is bad, or most probably the cpu block is not enough.

It's no suprise you can't get a stable overclock with that cooling.

Any recommendations? Is aftermarket air cooling a good idea?

nothing means anything without ambient temps...
but those idle temps seem high for average rooms temps.
