MT4G CM7 ADW Launcher issue

So I just rooted my phone for the first time since my Eris 1.6 -> 2.0, and due to overwhelming popular vote on most forums, I went for CM7. It's quite nice and I like the ROM, but the problem has more to do with ADW Launcher, I think.

No matter what theme I pick, the icons always stay as the "stock" ones from the CM theme. I've tried re-installing and such, but I am just stumped at this point. I haven't done more with Android other than just look at my home screen for roughly a year, so I'm quite lost.

tl;dr: ADW Launcher themes won't change my icon pack.

Not necessarily a bump, but I guess it ends up as one.

I'd also like to know about a replacement launcher, if a better one is available. Info on how to remove ADW and install the new one. I've noticed that ADW is a bit bulky, at least on the MyTouch4G.

Any and all help would be appreciated.

Try LauncherPro from the Android Market. You won't be able to remove ADW but you can have two launchers on your phone and use LauncherPro as your default.

go launcher EX is pretty good
it had a tiny issue that could easily be overlooked so i got rid of it
So are you applying ADW themes or CM7 themes?

set these settings where it says "choose" to the ADW theme if that's what you're using

Second for Go Launcher EX, but it mostly comes down to preference, LauncherPro would be my second choice.

And you can uninstall/remove system apps a few different ways. I prefer using Titanium Backup though to either freeze or just completely remove/uninstall system apks. Plus this is just an overall extremely handy app if you're going to be testing out different ROM's and the donate version is well worth it as it automates the restore process.

But you could use Root Explorer navigate to /system/app mount as R/W, or
without an app at all using just ADB.

So I have LauncherProPlus all set up, but I'm still missing one thing I really want, and I can't figure out how to search Google for it.

I saw an SS of someone's screen, that had not only words for the apps in the docking area (I have that one set already), but also on screen as 2x1 blocks going up the left side.

What I mean by this is, for the Market to launch, there was a 2x1 widget/shortcut, with the word "Market". There were a few others as well.

Like this?

The app is called "Desktop Visualizer" and you'll need to find the icon/picture with the word "Market" on it. You can then assign the widget to launch Market.

You are a lifesaver. I've been spending most of my day trying to ghetto-rig something together to make it work haha.

Enjoy!

I really like the minimalistic look Desktop Visualizer can provide. That and "Minimalistic Text" are the two must have apps for home screen.

Yeah, I just got done with minimalist text. Minimalism ftw.

Edit: I can not find any of the text icons except for one, which was definitely not my style.

Couldn't make my own either, always came out looking fuzzy for some reason.
